Distinguish between a converging lens and a diverging lens

A

A converging lens is one that focuses (converges) light rays as they come towards the lens.

A diverging lens is one that diverges separates or scatters light rays as they come towards the lens.

Converging lenses are thicker towards the middle than their edges.

Diverging lenses have thicker edges and a thinner center.

Converging lenses are able to form both real and virtual images of real objects.

Diverging lenses are only able to form virtual images of real objects.

As light exits converging lenses, they become more focused.

As light exits divergent lenses, the distance between the separated rays increases.
