Q

In the below system, solve for y in the first equation.

X − 3y = −6
2x − 7y = 10

A. 1/3x+2

B. -1/3x+6

C. -x+2

D. -1/3x+2

A

Answer: A. 1/3x+2

There are two equations:

x − 3y = −6 ….. Equation one

2x − 7y = 10 …… Equation two

Solve for the value of y in equation one

x – 3y = –6

3y = x + 6

Divide both sides by 3

y = (x+6)/3

y = (1/3)x + 2
