What Does A Negative Growth Rate Mean in Microbiology?

A

Microbial growth is the rate at which the population of microbes grows. The growth rate can increase when the temperature, pH, and other factors for growth are in good condition. When the environment is conducive for growth, micro-organisms like bacteria, yeasts, and molds will grow well.

When the micro-organisms are in a conducive environment, they can reproduce themselves and populate the area, causing more harm than what meets the eyes. For instance, viruses and bacteria in an environment can cause health issues like lung disease and other problems.

These micro-organisms can also aggravate existing health conditions like allergies, asthma, breathing problems, and other complications. The excess presence of viruses, bacteria, and other microbes is negative to human health and well-being.
