What is the moral of “The Wife of Bath’s Tale”?

A

The moral of the “Wife of Bath’s Tale” is that women be allowed to dominate or exercise sovereignty over the men in their lives. The old hag depicted this clearly. According to the old hag, whether they were beautiful or ugly, husbands should obey their wives in all things. In other words, allowing women to have dominance over their husbands is a decision that promotes the best interests of the men.

On the flip side of that coin, the story supports that women should be allowed to make their own decisions, as they know best what they want for themselves.
