Describe how energy is released from ATP?

A

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is formed through bonding a phosphate group to ADP (adenosine diphosphate). During the process of cellular respiration, the organism converts the chemical energy in food to the energy the cells can use, and stores it in the ATP molecules. So, when the cells want to use the stored energy, they break down the bonds in glucose and lose the third phosphate group, and in this process, the energy is released.
