How does genetic drift differ from natural selection?

In fact, both processes are the mechanisms of evolution and alter the allele frequency in the population.

However, they change the frequency of alleles in a different way. Natural selection causes the individuals with better abilities of surviving and reproducing leave more offspring and and pass on their genetic material. So, the population is evolving on the basis of individuals’ fitness.

On a contrary, genetic drift is a random process, and the change of allele frequencies occurs by chance.
