A

Answer: A. the Taliban began to regain control over some areas.

After the 9/11 attacks, the United States waged war against Afghanistan. The United States, fought against terrorism; something that existed predominantly in the Middle Eastern country of Afghanistan. At some point in the war, the Afghan people went against the US and this made them much more radicalized. With this, the Taliban took advantage of it and gathered insurgents to take back some regions previously lost and claimed by the US troops. They got help from some Afghans who were in pursuit of freedom from the foreign rule of America. This led to more hostilities and more recruitment by the Taliban forces.
