When viewing an object, we see its color according to the wavelength of light that the object:

A. absorbs

B. transmits

C. contains

D. reflects

A

D. reflects

The composition of every color in the same concentrations forms white light. When it is caused to beam on a red bowl, only red is reflected and the rest is absorbed. All the absorbed colors combined together give red hence we will see red. Conversely, if blue light is made to beam on a red vest, the red vest will appear dark. This is because it cannot reflect blue light. Also, the vest cannot appear as red in color since there is no red light and it cannot appear to be blue in color since the red vest absorbs the blue light. In essence, the identification of colors depends upon the wavelength of light the object absorbs.
