What is limit in calculus?

A

In calculus, a limit is that value a function also known as the sequence gets as the index or input gets to a certain value. Limits are very critical in mathematical analysis, and particularly, in calculus. They are used to define integrals, derivatives and continuity. This is the basis for everything to do with calculus. Limits in calculus define the behaviour of a function near a point rather than at that particular point.
